With tongs you can easily hold charcoal when igniting and sometimes move a glowing charcoal.

Application:
Fill a fireproof incense burner with sand, hold the charcoal tablet with tongs and light from the side.
The quick-ignition charcoal now sprays some sparks and quickly ignites completely.
Now place the charcoal on the sand and wait until the edge has turned light gray. Now the incense can be put on.
